So the news that’s come with the first photos of the 2012 ML that we will see the big Mercedes SUV sporting a lowly four-pot is much less of a shock than it would have been a few years ago. VW planning to sell 2 versions of Polo compact in U.S.
Mon, 16 Mar 2009Volkswagen plans to sell two versions of its Polo compact car in the United States: a sedan smaller than the current Jetta and a four-door hatchback roomier than the one shown this month at the Geneva auto show. Both versions would be designed especially for the United States, said Volkswagen Group of America CEO Stefan Jacoby. Sales could start in 2011, he said.
GM's historic Willow Run plant closes
Fri, 24 Dec 2010After 68 years of arming the nation and putting America on wheels, the Willow Run manufacturing plant in southeast Michigan closed on Thursday. The 5-million-square-foot powertrain plant, owned by Motors Liquidation Corp., the remnants of the former General Motors Corp., has fallen victim to GM's 2009 bankruptcy and subsequent restructuring. About 300 workers left at the plant will either “retire, transfer to another campus or go on layoff,” said Chris Lee, a spokesman for the reorganized General Motors Co.
