Volkswagen Passat (2011): the American one

Volkswagen has unveiled the US version of the Passat at the 2011 Detroit auto show. VW’s European customers won’t be able to buy it, but will be interested in the price: despite being longer and wider than the car offered in Europe it will start from just £13,000 before taxes for a 168bhp five-cylinder petrol. 2010 Acura ZDX recalled

Acura said on Tuesday that it is recalling 1,850 versions of its freshly launched 2010 ZDX crossover for a potential airbag problem. The recall stems from a dashboard material that was cut wrong, which would cause the passenger-side airbag to deploy improperly. About two percent of the vehicles recalled are likely affected, spokesman Gary Robinson said.

Chrysler to build ZF's eight-speed transmission in Indiana

The Chrysler Group plans to spend $300 million to build a new eight-speed automatic transmission licensed from ZF Group, a transmission maker headquartered in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The investment will pay for installation of special tooling and equipment at Chrysler's Transmission Plant 1 and Kokomo Casting Plant in Indiana and help retain 1,200 jobs there, Chrysler said Wednesday. Production will start in 2013.
