Lexus, Honda and Kia reveal teasers for 2014 Detroit auto show
Thu, 19 Dec 2013By Ollie Kew First Official Pictures 19 December 2013 17:00 Ahead of the Detroit motor show in January 2014, Lexus, Honda and Kia have all received teaser shots of their new offerings. We’ve rounded the up into one bite-size story to cut to the heart of what we’re really looking at. After previously flashing us a shot of wheel and vent, Lexus has now unveiled a shot on what’s all-but-confirmed to be the new RC-F coupe’s vented bonnet.
Automotive review of 2013: the best - and worst - cars and motoring moments
Fri, 27 Dec 2013This year marked the 60th anniversary of the Corvette, and Chevrolet marked the occasion in style by launching an all-new model back in January 2013 – the seventh generation of the 'Vette. Instantly recognisable as a Corvette, the new model packs a 6.2-litre V8 rated at 460bhp. Best of all though is the news that the road racer will reach UK dealerships next autumn, priced from £61,495.
Kia's Forte Super Bowl ad features violent android lady
Fri, 01 Feb 2013There's no Jimmy Cliff or Flaming Lips in Kia's Super Bowl ad for the new Forte, but we can't help thinking they're the second company this week to miss out on co-opting seminal New Jersey punk outfit the Misfits' “We Are 138.” While attaching the song to the unveiling of Ferrari's new F138 was a no-brainer from a numerically synergistic standpoint, the track's poppy brutality and ominous query, “Is it time to be an android, not a man?” dovetails perfectly with the rise-of-the-sexy-machines theme of the Kia clip. Clearly, the android in this spot -- portrayed by former Miss USA Alyssa Campanella -- has the upper hand over the poor schnook oiling up the new Forte with his greasy mitts. We can't help thinking the whole ad would've been better if the Misfits' original pint-size vocal dynamo Glenn Danzig had been involved somehow.
