As previewed in excellent concept form at the Shanghai motor show, the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class has been revealed in its production guise. Built on the same platform as the A-, B- and CLA-Classes, the GLA further expands Mercedes' portfolio of C-segment models into the semi-SUV market to take on the likes of the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. Proportionally it appears far happier than the A and CLA from these initial images, particularly around the scuttle area.

The Subaru Levorg Concept Touring (pictured) will debut at the Tokyo Motor Show
Today it’s the turn of another Japanese car maker to start showing what they’ll be taking to their home motor show in Tokyo next month, with Subaru teasing the Subaru Levorg concept. The Levorg concept – it’s name is made up from Legacy, Revolution and Touring – is said by Subaru to be a Tourer but with the feel of a sports car, whatever that means. Under the bonnet lurks a 1.6 litre Boxer engine with direct injection turbo tech which, say Subaru, offers smooth performance and green credentials.

As first reported by Jeff Glucker of Hooniverse, the toymaker Mattel has been accused of infringing on a trademark held by the low-volume vehicle builder Icon 4X4. Icon claims that a Hot Wheels toy being distributed worldwide is based on its Icon FJ40—which itself is based on the Toyota FJ40—and that Hot Wheels' use of Icon's design, promotional materials and the name “FJ40” violates trademarks held by Icon. In its response to Tuesday's Hooniverse post, Hot Wheels claimed that the toy is not based on the Icon FJ40, and that it has the right to use the term “FJ40” despite Icon's trademark.
