Corvette icon Duntov added to Bloomington Gold hall
Wed, 05 Dec 2012Zora-Arkus Duntov, the first chief engineer for the Chevrolet Corvette, is among 10 people who will be added to the Bloomington Gold Corvettes USA's Great Hall next summer. The Great Hall is a form of hall of fame started by Bloomington Gold, an annual Corvette restoration and car show event that rewards cars for being maintained in original or factory-correct condition. The event is held in late June.
Porsche Macan gets four-cylinder powerplant
Wed, 23 Apr 2014The new entry level Porsche Macan, shown alongside the new Boxster and Cayman GTS at the Beijing motor show, has become the first Porsche model since the 968 to use four-cylinder power. Parent company Volkswagen's EA888 engine -- as used by a wide range of models from Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Seat -- will motivate the new Porsche SUV. The turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder direct-injection unit, boasting the same state of tune found on the Golf GTi Performance Package, develops 234 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm.
TFL to get more poweres over roads
Wed, 27 Nov 2013GREATER POWERS will be given to Transport for London to enforce road alterations after legislation finally cleared parliament. TfL and London borough councils will also be able to ensure builders' skips are properly lit and make developers pay for any damage they cause to roads or footpaths. But the changes, contained in the London Local Authorities and Transport for London (No.2) Bill, have taken exactly six years to pass through parliament.
