Autotronic Controls Corp. (ACC) was founded in 1970 as a research and development company by two engineers from White Sands (New Mexico) Missile Range. The men and their other partners were working on a lean burn fuel system called the Electrasonic Fuel Induction system to help fuel economy of new and older automobiles. As the new fuel system was being perfected, the air/fuel mixture was becoming so lean that it was difficult for conventional breaker points and early electronic ignitions to ignite it. The men of ACC then started investigating a new ignition system by using modern technology called capacitive discharge (CD). The CD design opened another door for the ignition, the capability to spark multiple times. ACC has produced the best performing and most popular performance ignitions for over 20 years. The high energy spark of the CD design combined with multiple sparks resulted in a potent ignition. Not only did the multiple spark discharge (MSD) ignite the lean fuel mixture, it made overall improvements in the engine's performance! Open to any registered school, the competition encourages students to submit their work in any of nine different categories, with the emphasis on interior design. Europe’s economic problems sees UK become biggest Ferrari market in Europe
Fri, 02 Aug 2013The Ferrari F12 (pictured) helped Ferrari to strong profits in the first half of 2013 The economic crisis in the Eurozone has seen Ferrari’s sales in countries like Italy and Spain plummet, and Greece managed just one sale in 2012 (and even that came to the UK). But Ferrari have a plan to keep profitability by limiting supply and achieving stronger revenues for the sale they do make – with stuff like Ferrari’s bespoke Atelier and Tailor Made services and Classiche work adding more revenue – to keep them powering forward, and it seems to be working despite poor sales in many European countries. In fact, despite an increase of just 2.8 per cent in volume, Ferrari has managed to increase their profits in the first six months of 2013 by an impressive 20 per cent, with total sales of 3,767 and net profits of €1.22 million.

Tue, 24 Jan 2012The Saab Museum - including the Ursaab (pictured) - has been saved Despite falling victim to Saab’s bankruptcy, the Saab Museum has been saved by Trollhatten City, Saab AB and the Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Memorial Fund. When we reported that the Saab Museum – and all its cars – was up for sale last week to try and bring in a few coppers to fill the black hole that is the Bankrupt Saab’s finances, it looked as if the historic collec tion – which includes the very first Ursaab – was destined to be broken up. The fate of the Saab Museum seemed to be to be scattered to the four corners of the globe as each car was sold to the highest bidder, but it’s been revealed that the entire collection - including the Museum building - has been saved for the Swedish nation.
