Scion considers moving upscale
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Toyota's struggling Scion brand may move upscale to challenge entry-level luxury models coming from European automakers. Scion has gone after young entry-level buyers since its inception 10 years ago but has lost its early momentum.

In fact, the 16X so far performs slightly better than Mazda's standard two-liter gasoline engine, said Mitsuo Hitomi, general manager of the Japanese carmaker's powertrain division.

With a large boot and easy access for luggage, the 3-series convertible promises to be practical, and the extra glass compared with a fabric cabrio should make it airy too.
