GMC Granite concept (w/ Video)
Mon, 18 Jan 2010The biggest surprise at the 2010 NAIAS was GMC's Granite concept - a design that expands (or rather contracts) the truck/crossover brand's 'professional grade' philosophy to a compact hatchback aimed at urban hipsters and early adopters. Conceived by Frank Saucedo's Advanced Design team in California and then built at GM's Design Center in Detroit, the Granite combines the basic proportions of the Nissan Cube and Scion xB with a military/industrial feel inspired by the current G-Star and Diesel fashion lines. Who's Where: Simon Cox appointed design director, Infiniti Design London
Thu, 15 Aug 2013Infiniti has recruited Simon Cox as design director at its Infiniti Design London studio, which is currently Nissan Design Europe. He will report directly to Infiniti executive design director Alfonso Albaisa. The new appointment comes as Infiniti attempts to evolve its design strategy by establishing new dedicated design studios, of which the London Paddington studio is the first.

The website offers a glimpse at the history and future of the most popular roadster of all time, including messages from the engineers behind its development. Originally designed in the 1980s, the first MX-5 was unveiled to the world in February 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show.
