Mystery Vintage Rear Tailgate Hatch Window and Chrome Trim 13.5"x48.5" 1967-1968?

Maybe you can help solve this mystery and perhaps this is the piece of vintage glass that you have been looking for. If someone can identify this I will update the listing. This is probably the glass for a rear gate, tailgate, or hatch on one of the classic vehicles that had a rear window that could go up or down. That is consistent with the chrome trim at the top and the rusted remains of a lower bracket that was probably part of the mechanism to raise or lower the window. Unfortunately that could mean any number of vintage vehicles that had retracting rear windows.

Here are the details: It is approximately 48.5" wide and 13.5" high in the middle, slightly shorter around 12.75" on the ends where it curves down from the top. There is no noticeable taper on the sides from top to bottom. The 1/4" glass is tinted and slightly curved such that if you put it on a flat surface the middle will be about 1-1/8" off the surface. The bottom corners are cut back such that there is about 1.5"-1.75" of glass at a 45 degree angle. Printed or etched on the glass is the manufacturer, Pittsburgh Plate Glass or PPG, the type of glass "Herculite", and then below that "AS2" which is the tint and safety rating, followed by "9" and "67". From the 'net AS2 is tempered with at least 70% light transmissions, and can be used anywhere except the windshield. The 9 and 67 are the month and year meaning this was manufactured in September 1967.

It can be difficult to find original glass for antique or vintage vehicles and I am hoping that this can find the right home rather than ending up in the landfill. It could be original to a 1967 or 1968 model American made station wagon or other vehicle or it could has been used on an earlier model vehicle as a replacement. Assuming it was on a 67-68 vehicle here is a list of the most likely suspects:

1967 AMC Ambassador 990 Cross Country station wagon
1967 AMC Rambler Rebel Mariner station wagon
1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Concours station wagon
1967 Chevy II Nova station wagon
1967 Chrysler Newport Town & Country station wagon
1967 Dodge Coronet station wagon
1967 Dodge Monaco station wagon
1967 Ford Country Squire station wagon
1967 Ford Ranch Wagon station wagon
1967 Ford Fairlane 500 station wagon
1967 International Travelall
1967 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon
1967 Pontiac Tempest Station Wagon

1968 AMC Ambassador DPL station wagon
1968 Buick SportWagon station wagon
1968 Chevrolet Bel Air station wagon
1968 Chevrolet Caprice station wagon
1968 Chrysler Town & Country
1968 Dodge Coronet 440 station wagon
1968 Dodge Monaco
1968 Ford Fairlane station wagon
1968 Ford Country Squire station wagon
1968 Ford Torino Squire station wagon
1968 International Travelall
1968 Plymouth Satellite station wagon
1968 Plymouth Suburban station wagon

The chrome trim along the top is in generally good condition although it could use a good cleaning and polishing. The glass is in good condition with a normal amount of random miscellaneous small scratches scattered around. It will need a good cleaning. The bottom bracket is totally rusted and not usable and was only left in place to help with identification.

Please ask any questions before bidding. I have described the condition of the item accurately to the best of my knowledge. I take my 100% positive feedback seriously. If you have any issues please contact me to resolve them before leaving feedback. Thank you.
