For sale is a guaranteed original NCRS Corvette Restorer, Volume One, Number One, from the Summer 1974.  This is the very first edition.  I bought it on an ebay auction from Corvette historian and author Noland Adams in August 2009.  The final sales price was $510.  As the auction was pending, there was a detailed discussion on the NCRS forum regarding that auction.  See: http://www.ncrs.org/forums/showthread.php?71862 See post 26, in particular.

Details on the sale was written up in the "Vette-o-bilia" section of the Corvette Market magazine, volume 9, Holiday 2009 (see photos).  In the write up, it was written:  "Date sold: 8/23/2009.  This was the premiere issue of the NCRS publication, The Corvette Restorer, and was in as-new condition.  It was offered by Noland Adams, president of the Solid Axle Corvette Club and author of the Corvette Restoration and Technical Guides.  Bloggers agreed it was not a reproduction due to the positioning of the staples.  Expensive, but the first of anything brings a substantial premium."

Estimates are that only 270 or 287 copies of this publication were printed.

Having collected baseball cards back in the day, I would know that this is not a "mint" item as that term is used in collectibles.  There are a few small creases, one inch or smaller which you can see from the scan.  One is in the upper right hand corner of the front page.  Additionally, on the back cover, you can see a small ink bleed through of a few letters from what was probably Noland's handwritten notes, pressed up against the cover for many years.  When I received the item in the mail, I was nonetheless very pleased with its condition and was not about to complain about a little patina on a 35 year old magazine, even if it was technically not in mint condition.  It lays completely flat.

As you can see from reading the first link above, there were reproductions made of the first edition.  However, the reproductions all had their staples 5 1/4 inches apart.  The staples on this one is 4 1/4 inches apart.  This was documented in the NCRS Corvette Restorer Volume 32 #3 Winter 2006.  Again, this is guaranteed original.  If you are not satisfied for any reason, you may return it in the same condition as you received it within 14 days and receive a full refund.

Included in the auction is everything you see pictured, including the letter and envelope from Noland, a print out of the original auction, and a original copy of the Corvette Market magazine that had the write up on the auction.

I have enjoyed looking at this item from time to time over the past four years, but now it is time for someone else to enjoy it.  Selling this is good therapy for my mild hoarding disorder (lol).  Thanks for bidding.

Hyundai increases its European Market share by 10%

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

Despite a weak car sales market across Europe, Hyundai has managed to increase its market share in January 2013 by almost 10 per cent. As we reported just the other day, the European car market is in a bit of a mess with sales down by 9.6% in January 2013 and even the mighty sales of the VW Golf – Europe’s best-selling car – dropping by 17.8 per cent. But despite the European car market falling back, Hyundai has managed to increase its market share in Europe by almost 10 per cent, from 3.3 per cent in January 2012 to 3.6 per cent in January 2013.

Pebble Beach: Tour Terrific

Fri, 19 Aug 2011

These ain't no trailer queens. While you might expect that a car that cost more than a million dollars to restore beyond its original glory would be something you'd keep in a sealed zip-lock freezer bag in the guarded basement of a museum, the vast majority of the entries in the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance are actually driven on the street. Or at least they are driven once before the big show.
