Diesel joins Porsche Panamera lineup
Mon, 02 May 2011Porsche has put forward some eye-catching fuel-economy figures for the Panamera diesel--although we may never see the car in the United States. Set to go on sale across Europe in August, the four-door is claimed to return a combined city/highway driving fuel economy of 36.2 mpg in standard guise under European testing procedures. When fitted with optional low-rolling-resistance tires, the fuel economy climbs to 37.3 mpg on the European test--a figure that gives the Panamera diesel a theoretical range of 800 miles on its 21-gallon fuel tank.

Although more about the tech than the design, the IBE does drop a few clues to the next Leon family.It's based on the running gear of the new Leon and packs a 75kW electric engine capable of daily use around town thanks to lithium ion batteries with 18kWh capacity. At the start of February we got a handful of teaser photos of the Infiniti Emerg-E, a range-extender electric sports car from Infiniti, with the promise of a reveal at the Geneva Motor Show in March. But the Emerg-E has arrived a bit early thanks to Interweb leaks.
