Photos reveal the all-new Ford Mustang -- of 1979

Fri, 28 Mar 2014

If you need further proof that everything old is new again, just look at the engine options for the upcoming 2015 Ford Mustang. That optional 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four is generating a lot of buzz; it's expected to help keep the car sporty while cutting down on fuel consumption, and it's going to help the Mustang make headway in overseas markets. Adding a turbo-four to the pony car equation isn't exactly novel: The Blue Oval put a forced-induction motor with the same cylinder count, configuration and displacement in the 1979 Mustang.

Jaguar Mille Miglia 2013 – & the F-Type came too (video)

Sat, 11 May 2013

But the original Mille Miglia ended in 1957 after a series of fatal crashes made the event untenable on public roads, but it returned in 1977 as the Mille Miglia Storica, a wonderful race/parade around Italy of classic cars – which must have taken part in the original 1927-1957 race – and now the 2013 Mille Miglia is ready to start on 16th May. Now the Mille Miglia is more a parade than a real race, Jaguar has enlisted some well-known faces to take the wheel of their C-Type and XK120 entries, including David Gandy (the world’s only male supermodel and a man who grew up round the corner from Cars UK Towers), Sir Chris Hoy (the cycling knight), Andy Wallace (Le Mans winner), Jim Gianopulos (boss at 20th century Fox), Hannah Herzsprung (German actress), Salvatore Ferragamo Jr. (heir to a luxury brand fortune), Yasmin Le Bon (the supermodel with a picture in her attic) and Michael Quinn (grandson of Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons).

VW Pickup concept (2008): first official photos

Wed, 24 Sep 2008

By Chris Chilton First Official Pictures 24 September 2008 18:00 He’s designed Alfa Romeos, Audis and even a Lamborghini but now Walter de'Silva has gone all humanitarian and designed a pick-up.  VW’s first small flatbed since the Mk1 Golf-based Caddy will take on trucks like the Toyota Hilux and Mitusbishi L200 when it goes on sale late in 2009. It is, but not for long. This thinly veiled concept, called simply Pickup Concept, has been designed as a search and rescue vehicle for coastguards but essentially this is what badge-conscious UK builders will be driving in 2009. The new Volkswagen corporate face with its monobrow top grille and wide mouth is likely to be carried over mostly unchanged to the cars that will roll off the South African production line, as will the surprisingly stylish interior which features hooded instruments and Audi TT-style air vents. Mechanical details are sketchy but Volkswagen claims that engines will be common-rail diesels which rules out the old-tech 2.5 five pot that powers many of VW’s current commercials.
