British Motor Show Axed

The British Motor Show - Cancelled for 2010, and probably permanently Well, I suppose it’s not really a great surprise, but it’s still sad to see the demise of the British Motor Show. The SMMT (organisers of the British Motor Show) announced this lunchtime that the 2010 show has been cancelled. They stated that this was due to the crisis in the car industry at present and the ongoing world financial crisis.

General Motors partners with battery supplier LG on electric vehicles

General Motors said Thursday that it is partnering with its battery cell supplier, LG Group, to develop electric vehicles. The agreement, signed Wednesday by GM CEO Dan Akerson and LG President Juno Cho, will “help GM expand the number and types of electric vehicles it makes and sells,” the automaker said in a statement. Jaguar XKR-S (2011) at 2011 Geneva motor show

Jaguar has turned up the power and sharpened the handling on the flagship XKR coupe for the 2011 Geneva motor show. The result: the XKR-S, claimed to be the fastest production Jaguar sports car ever. For 2011, Jaguar is returning the XKR-S to the top of the XK range. CAR readers may recall the well regarded 2008 limited edition that last carried the badge.  The XKR-S has an uprated version of the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 found in the standard XKR. Power moves up to 542bhp (from 510bhp), and torque swells to 501lb ft (up from 461lb ft) thanks to lots of ECU tweakage.
