It was only a matter of time before someone took the slammed and attitudinal Range Rover Evoque and turned it into a rally raid vehicle capable of competing in the Dakar. The new Desert Warrior 3 is the result: a rally racer powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre diesel, tuned to produce between 275-300bhp depending on event restrictions, and a whole host of serious off-roading equipment to transform this from road to race car. But it’s actually on sale now, a few weeks early. At £29,900 (for the 3-door with 6-speed manual), the Golf R is a sensible price ( at least in comparison to VW’s truly silly price for the MK 6 Golf R Cabrio – which they subsequently dropped by more than £5k) and undercuts the similar Audi S3.

2013 Ford Mondeo production delayed

It’s reported that the 2013 Ford Mondeo – due to debut at the Paris Motor Show in September – will not go in to production until Q3 2013. The 2013 Ford Mondeo – which is pretty much the same car as the new Ford Fusion in the US – was expected to arrive at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That it didn’t was a bit odd, especially as it’s colonial cousin, the 2013 Ford Fusion, was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
