The
latest head and neck restraint from HANS promises to be a great addition to the
Head & Neck restraint market with an adjustable feature for those racers who
want a customized comfort level.
The
HANS Adjustable, which meets the SFI Foundation’s Spec. 38.1 and FIA 8858
homologated for head and neck restraints, enables all drivers to purchase a HANS
with full confidence of a comfortable fit no matter what type of car or racing
seat they use. It is adjustable in five-degree increments which allows the Hans
Adjustable device to improve the fit and comfort for all racers. The HANS
Adjustable can be used in different types of cars. If a racer competes in a
sprint car with an upright seat and also a stock car with a reclined seat the
device easily adjusts to the seat layback from 10 to 40 degrees. The
HANS Adjustable device is made by an injection molded process using a metal
alloy before a fire-resistant nylon coating is applied. The DuPont Zytel coating
is a nylon resin that is injection molded to the fit the device. In addition to
toughness characteristics, the make-up of the polymer is mixed specifically to
be highly fire resistant.Metal
fasteners that employ Spiralock® technology enable a driver to adjust the legs
of the HANS to alter the angle of the collar in five-degree increments. The HANS
Adjustable weighs 970 grams. This is heavier than the HANS Sport II (770 grams)
and lighter than the HANS Sport (1,110 grams).

2012 Mercedes SL - will have to live without the V12
We haven’t exactly had a glut of stories on the Merceds SL of late. In fact the last story appears to have been a spy shot of the 2012 SL back at the end of 2010. But that’s because the current SL is far from cutting edge and no longer the halo of the Mercedes range.

Was it really a Ferrari being blasted through Paris in Rendezvous? Or was it just a Mercedes 450SEL with Lelouch’s 275GTB soundtrack dubbed in? Frankly, it doesn’t matter - Claude Lelouch’s 1976 C'était Un Rendezvous (to give the film its full title) was a thrilling masterpiece.
