A Fine Day For Birmingham Police

Mon, 20 Jan 2014

POLICE in Birmingham have discovered they are not immune from traffic fines, after figures released by West Midlands Police show that local law enforcement have fallen foul of the city’s tough stance on bus lane offenders. In a hard-line approach, which had drawn criticism from some drivers, Birmingham City Council put up new signs on existing bus lanes in the heart of the city barring all other vehicles from using them and enforcing the rule with traffic cameras to catch the culprits who flout the ban. As a result, a reported 60,000 fines were issued by the end of last year following the scheme's launch in September, with police drivers accounting for 408 of those transgressions and individual drivers responsible for payment of the fine.

First Hyundai ix35 FCEV Hydrogen-powered cars delivered

Tue, 04 Jun 2013

The first production, hydrogen-powered Hyundai ix35 arrives in Copenhagen Hyundai has been threatening to deliver the first production hydrogen-powered ix35s in Europe for a while, and now its finally happened. Fifteen 1×35 FCEVs have been delivered to the City of Copenhagen during the opening ceremony for the first hydrogen refuelling station in Denmark and will be used by the City of Copenhagen as part of their municipal fleet, and demonstrate in the process that FCEVs are a practical proposition. Hyundai has been deploying prototypes of the ix35 FCEv across Europe for the last couple of years as it works to raise awareness of the technology and drive the impetus for a pan-European hydrogen refuelling network, with EU policy makers having access to the ix35 FCEV and 100 European businesses getting a chance to play at a recent event in Berlin.

Aston Martin One-77 (2009) wins top design prize at Villa d’Este

Mon, 27 Apr 2009

By Tim Pollard (photography by Mike Goodbun) First Official Pictures 27 April 2009 10:39 It’s having a long drawn-out gestation, but Aston Martin’s One-77 supercar made its world show debut at this weekend’s Villa d’Este, where it scooped the top prize for concept cars and prototypes. We’ll forgive you if you thought the One-77 had already been unveiled, but the car at Geneva was a technical cutaway rolling chassis – the first finished car is the one show in our photos above. The One-77 won more than 30% of the votes among the eight cars entered in its category.
