Manufacturer Description:

These Valve Lash Caps for 426 Hemi applications have a .190" overall head height and .080" thickness. Because today’s racing engines run at higher RPM levels with harsh cam profiles, the tip of the valve stem is subjected to a tremendous amount of pounding. These engines always run just on the brink of valve float – one of the most severe conditions that can exist. The best solution to this problem is the COMP Cams® Valve Lash Caps. These lash caps are precision machined and ground perfectly flat to maintain accuracy of valve train adjustment. A must have for titanium valves, these Lash Caps fit valve stems well and are easily removed.

Mercedes launches Attention Assist

Wed, 13 Aug 2008

By Ben Whitworth Motor Industry 13 August 2008 13:28 Mercedes-Benz researchers call it the ‘one-second nap’ – that instant when fatigue overcomes you at the wheel on a long trip and you wake up in hospital. To counter dozing off while driving, which Mercedes claims accounts for a quarter of all major motorway accidents, its engineers have developed an innovative driver support system called Attention Assist. As well as registering linear and lateral acceleration, indicator and pedal operation and vehicle speed, the system also monitors steering response - the most important indicator of fatigue according to Mercedes, is tired drivers have difficulty in keeping their vehicle precisely on track.

Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about. -- Looks like the Willow Run assembly plant outside of Ypsilanti, Mich.

Viper sports car division no longer for sale

Mon, 13 Jul 2009

By Ben Whitworth Motor Industry 13 July 2009 14:08 Viper’s yo-yoing lifeline looks to be finally secured after ailing parent company Chrysler said the sports car maker was no longer for sale. Rather than killing off its muscle-bound brand, last summer Cerberus-run Chrysler considered selling off the rights to the Viper, hoping to achieve around $10m for the Detroit assembly plant and brand equity to bolster its dwindling cash reserves and stave off imminent bankruptcy. After an initial surge of interest from similar-minded companies like Roush and Saleen, curiosity nosedived along with the global economy.
