Hyundai move from Baboons to Kids to test quality
Fri, 05 Jul 2013Hyundai let a troop of 4 & 5 year olds loose on an i30 to test quality Last year, Hyundai let a troop of 40 safari park baboons loose on an i30 to see if, left to their own devices, they could trash Hyundai’s very well bolted together (just ask Martin Winterkorn) i30. It was a clever way to demonstrate that the i30 doesn’t just look good, but is made of a bit more than recycled baked bean cans and Fairy liquid bottles. The i30 came through the baboon test with flying colours (even the company tasked with cleaning it up after the baboons commented on the story that they were impressed by how unscathed the i30 was), but Hyundai has now come up with a quality test that makes the baboon adventure look like a walk in the (safari) park.
Vilner reveals BMW 6-series Bullshark
Tue, 26 Nov 2013Tuning house Vilner is known for their interior coachbuilding work, but their latest effort is something else entirely. Dubbed the Bullshark, this BMW 6-series Coupe has received an almost entirely new exterior courtesy of the company, with just about body panel replaced in the process, save for the doors and the roof. The overall profile of the 6-series coupe is still there, but everything else is almost unrecognizable.
New BMW website shows off ActiveE data
Thu, 11 Apr 2013BMW launched a new website Thursday that presents range, cost savings and environmental impact data taken from 700 ActiveE drivers (dubbed “Electronauts” by BMW … really guys?) to inform consumers about the potential savings of electric vehicles. Titled the "Electronaut Effect," BMW's BMWActivatetheFuture.com, is dedicated to the ActiveE drivers, providing even more data and allowing the drivers to compare a variety of data, including the average number of charges each car requires per day and how performance varies from the East Coast to the west. Through this site, ActiveE drivers can also see which "Electronauts" are in the top 25 based on a specified set of data points, for instance who has traveled the most miles and who has charged the vehicle the least.
