A new flat glass Monogram headlamp lenses in their original box that I got at an auction of vintage car parts. The lens is marked "Monogram, Maxwell, Light Distributor, 8 x 6 15/16, Monogram Lens Company, New York City, Pat Pend, Designed For 21 C.P. Mazda Lamps at Focus, Tilt Beam One Ft. Down at 25 Ft." This is 8" in diameter with a prism that is 6 15/16" in diameter. There is a "notch" at 180 degrees. I can't find any match for this in my old headlight catalogs, so I don't know what models/years Maxwell this is for. Maxwell automobiles were manufactured from 1904 to about 1925, when Maxwell merged into Chrysler. The lens has only a few small scratches. But when we pause and think we remember that they are in fact part of VW, and therefore very much a European car maker. Which explains why, despite the cars being bolted together here, Bentley feels the need to put UK Car prices up by 5% from 31st March, due to the current weakness of Sterling.
