Pirelli World Challenge star Andy Pilgrim makes teens, parents better drivers
Wed, 26 Mar 2014Here's another addend in the complex driver-training equation: Many parents influence their kids to become both a greater danger when driving and more susceptible to the actions of other poor drivers. This influence begins long before kids are licensed to drive. Consider: -- “More than 75 percent of new drivers exhibit the same distracted driving behavior as their parents.” -- “Most parents are unaware they are teaching their kids things that will make them more dangerous to others and more vulnerable to others.” -- “Most parents want to protect their children and will make changes once they understand the realities of behavior transfer.” These are the words of Andy Pilgrim, the same championship-winning sports-car driver who helped road-test editor Jonathan Wong thrash Porsche's 911 GT3 and Chevrolet's Camaro Z/28.
Gamers more likely to pass driving test
Mon, 31 Mar 2014Regularly playing computer-based driving games could help you pass your driving test sooner, according to a new study by Privilege car insurance. However, the survey also showed that these drivers who pass their tests sooner with the aid of some digital practice are more likely to crash within the first year of getting on the road. On Bing: see pictures of the driving test Find out how much a used car costs on Auto Trader The car cover provider asked 1,994 drivers aged between 18 and 50 as part of the research, concluding that a massive 73% of gamers past their test first time round.
First Sight: BMW at the 2012 London Olympics
Wed, 27 Jun 2012Director of BMW i design Benoît Jacob showed Car Design News the i Pedelec bicycle alongside a new version of the i3 concept at the company's new Park Lane ‘i store' in London. The compact bike folds artfully into the boot of the car, recharging its batteries when stowed. Made in limited numbers, a few i Pedelecs will run outside its contractual fleet of 4,000 vehicles at the London Olympics.
