Subaru BRZ (2012) insurance groups announced
Mon, 25 Jun 2012Subaru has announced the BRZ sports car will fall into insurance group 30, with higher-end SE Lux models in group 31. How does the Subaru BRZ's insurance compare to its rivals? Tricky question, since the BRZ, as a £25k, rear-drive 2+2 coupe, doesn't have much in the way of brand new, direct rivals (save for its Toyota GT86 sister of course).
Insurance group lists its Top Safety Picks
Wed, 22 Dec 2010After increasing its standards for 2011 models, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says that 66 vehicles--more than double the 2010 total--rate as best in the industry at protecting passengers from front, side, rollover and rear crashes. Only 27 vehicles qualified last year after the group, funded by the insurance industry, required that vehicles pass a roof-strength test to earn a good rating, claiming that stronger roofs would reduce the risk of serious or fatal injury by 50 percent in a rollover accident. The most mentioned carmakers on the 2011 list are Hyundai/Kia and Volkswagen/Audi, both with nine vehicles to get the Top Safety Pick designation.
Concept Car of the Week: Renault Argos (1994)
Fri, 09 Nov 2012The 1994 Renault Argos concept is the little sports car based on the humble Twingo that continues to resonate in design terms. Designed by current PSA Director of Design, Jean-Pierre Ploué, the minimalist three-seater ushered in a new design movement dubbed ‘Esprit Nouveau' (New Spirit) that re-instated The Car as an industrial machine after a period of organic, Bio-design influence. Pared-back, broken down into its component parts and proudly bare, the Argos mixed the post-industrial functionality of a contemporary fighter aircraft with a twist of Steampunk fantasy.
