Infiniti has announced it’s changing its car nomenclature with all saloons and Coupes changing to Infiniti Q and all SUVs and Crossovers to Infiniti QX. What’s in a name? That which we call M, G, FX and EX by any other name would smell as sweet.

Production output decline slowing

The data, presented by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), show that, while production levels are still on the decline, the pace at which they are declining is slowing. Car production figures for June 2009 are still down by 30.2% compared with this time last year, however this is an improvement on the 50.2% by which production is down so far this year.

The Name Game: Why the next Buick will be called the Verano

Verano means “summer” in Spanish, though it could easily be a type of coffee or even a brand of crystal. But the idea behind the latest Buick was to snare an upscale, forward-sounding name to lure to new customers. Buick could have gone with an alpha-numeric designation, or even dipped into its heritage for a storied moniker from the past.
