McLaren MP4-12C to charge hill at Goodwood with Button and Hamilton at the wheel

The McLaren MP4-12C will make its much-anticipated public debut at Goodwood, and yet another advanced prototype will charge up the famous hill in the supercar portion of the event--driven by none other than McLaren Formula One stars Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton. They'll be piloting the VP9 validation prototype finished in traditional McLaren orange. In addition to the hill charge, a new prototype will be on display with all of the carbon-fiber fittings, including splitter, engine covers and seatbacks.

And over on the Rinspeed stand at the 2012 Geneva motor show, you can expect to see the new Rinspeed Dock + Go, a Smart Fortwo with a new mobility concept. It adds a bespoke trailer to the Smart city car, letting customers drive into town two-up in the regular Smart, or go on a longer journey to the seaside with all the clobber (for two, no families allowed – unless the children can be flatpacked into the boot) stuffed into the trailer. Audi R8 V10 sells for $500,000 at charity auction

Which would you pay more for--a V10-powered Audi R8 or the new Ferrari California? At the third annual Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance in Florida last weekend, the Audi R8--the first one in the United States equipped with the 5.2-liter V10--was the winner in a charity auction, selling for $500,000, well above the car's sticker price of $180,000. Meanwhile, the Ferrari California was snapped up for $350,000, a bit more than the $225,000 sticker price.
