Motorists Budget 2011 No once expected huge give-aways in George Osborne’s second budget – especially as we now have cruise missiles to pay for in Libya – but the hope was that the Chancellor would at least address the inexcorable rise in the cost of fuel. Which he has – sort of. Fuel was due to increase by around 5p a litre next week if he’d left Labour’s fuel duty escalator in place.

More women 'caught drink driving'

THE NUMBER of women convicted of drink-driving has almost doubled in recent years, a survey has shown. Women accounted for 9% of drink-drive convictions in 1998, but this figure had risen to 17% by 2012, the survey revealed. From car insurance company Direct Line and transport organisation the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund, the survey also showed that 17% of female motorists thought they had driven while over the legal alcohol limit in the past year.

Huntsman U-Box concept explores use of carbon materials

If you attended our Car Design Night at this year's Geneva motor show, you may well have seen the U-Box concept vehicle parked outside the entrance. Developed by Huntsman Advanced Materials, this 'last mile' delivery vehicle is a showcase of the company's composite materials expertise. "The D3 Group [based in Paris] designed the car and also came up with the idea of 'last-mile delivery'," explains Harald Wiedemann, Vice President of Huntsman Advanced Materials (EMEAI).
