Product Description
K and N Carbon fiber composites have an attractive cosmetic appeal, and the outstanding stiffness to weight ratio that is needed to stay competitive in the racing industry today.
Carbon fiber composites have taken the method traditionally associated with fiberglass and perfected it to a precise science with outstanding performance as the result. The process of advanced composites controls resin and fiber content to exacting tolerances. Though traditional methods have proven successful in producing a variety of products, advanced composite products can be engineered considerably stronger and assembled with even greater accuracy. K and N Advanced Composite Division offers products to really get excited about. Carbon fiber, as a raw material, has been treated to handle heat from below 0 to 2500 degrees fahrenheit. In most cases the limiting factor is the matrix or resin system, not the reinforcement material such as carbon fiber, fiberglass or Kevlar. Epoxies are no longer a simple brush on mix of basic compounds. Chemists have spent years maximizing the function of the matrix by blending epoxies with ceramics and a number of other ingredients. It is a precise science where strength, durability, function and temperature all have to be considered. K and N products are engineered with specific resin systems for application specific needs. These products must take into consideration such things as - fire retardant resins, ceramic blends to handle high heat and flexible systems for damage tolerance. This same kind of consideration goes into everything K and N makes.

Why we love Maximum Bob: A column by Dutch Mandel

Mon, 09 Feb 2009

In announcing that he will leave General Motors at the end of this year, product czar Bob Lutz bows out gracefully and elegantly and does it in the style that forged his legend. It's also a move made none too soon and if not hastened by Beltway functionaries, then punctuated by it. But make no mistake: Bob Lutz is not running from the fight engulfing Detroit and the rest of the automaking world.

Mon, 21 Jul 2014

LEARNERS gearing up to take their first driving test are twice as likely to pass in Scotland as those in London, according to analysis of driving test results by a car insurance company. Its analysis reveals that London has the test centres with the four lowest pass rates in the country for first time test-takers. Only 31% of learner drivers in Belvedere passing the first time, while Wanstead (32%), Barking (32%) and Wood Green (33%) were the other lowest scoring centres in the capital, all with first time pass rates significantly below the national average (48%), the study by Privilege Car Insurance found.

Mazda 2's diet regime secrets

Mon, 23 Jul 2007

By Ben Pulman First Official Pictures 23 July 2007 02:19 So what’s all the fuss about then? Weight, or in the case of the Mazda 2, a lack of it. CO2 emissions are the biggest issue for the car industry right now, and governments around the globe are seemingly obsessed with one single gas.
