Mercedes CLA & GLA will sell 60,000 a year in the USA
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Mercedes are aiming to sell 30k CLAs in the US every year It’s not all that long since the only Mercedes car US car buyers actually took seriously was the Mercedes S-Class. But times have changed and the rise in fuel prices and the collapse of the US car market has seen US car buyers looking at more ‘compact’ cars as appealing buys. Which explains why smaller cars have suddenly become an appealing ‘must have’ for car makers selling in the US, even ‘premium’ car makers.
Audi TT speedster 'will be built'
Tue, 20 May 2008By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 20 May 2008 12:15 Audi will build a limited production run of the TT speedster we scooped last week, CAR Online can reveal. The company is planning to make between 50-100 of the chop-top TT especially for the Middle East market. Although spokesmen in Europe have denied any production plans for the unusual open-top TT we spied on test in southern Germany, Audi's marketing director for the Middle East, Bernd Rosenbichler, told us they were planning a small production run for enthusiasts in hotter climes.'We have been asked [by Audi AG] if we could imagine bringing this car here,' he told CAR.
New Ford Mondeo to get new 1.5 litre EcoBoost engine
Fri, 12 Apr 2013The new EcoBoost engine will also be turning up in the Ford Fusion for North America, but the UK and Europe are going to have to wait until at least the end of 2014 – when we get the new Mondeo - before the new engine is on offer. The 1.5 litre EcoBoost offers improved economy and emissions compared to the 1.6 litre currently available - with similar power, performance and torque compared – but one of the main reasons for offering it is that many countries offer tax breaks for engines under 1.5 litres. The new engine will be built by Ford In Romania initially (although it will get churned out elsewhere too in due course) and offers turbocharging, direct fuel injection and variable valve timing.
