Honda is set to announce that its Formula 1 Team is to be put up for sale with immediate effect, and if no buyer materialises then it intends pulling out of the new Formula 1 season due to start in March 2009.

GM to double size of battery lab

General Motors says it will spend $8 million to double the size of its Global Battery Systems Lab, which the company claims is the largest and most technologically advanced automotive battery lab in the United States. GM says the expansion will speed up the development of hybrid and electric vehicles, such as the upcoming Chevrolet Volt, by improving on-site testing of battery cells and systems. When finished, the lab will be 30,000 square feet bigger than it is now, for a 63,000-square-foot total.

Jaguar Land Rover are creating 800 new jobs at their Solihull plant as they reveal record sales for 2012 of 335,000 vehicles. The end of last week saw Honda plans to cut 800 jobs as the European market for Honda fizzled under a cloud of economic gloom, but no such problems at Jaguar Land Rover. Jaguar Land Rover has revealed plans for 800 new jobs at Solihull (following on from 1,000 new jobs last March, 1100 new jobs last July and 1000 new jobs in November 2011),  after revealing record sales across the globe in 2012, selling an impressive 335,000 vehicles.
