Toyota Prius points the way to design future

For a glimpse of Toyota's future design trends, check out the Prius. The third generation, debuting Monday in Japan, stays true to the line's role as a vanguard of futuristic styling and sports many new elements that will be popping up soon in other models. Chief among these are the sharply creased corners, the forward placement of the Toyota badge, a lowered grille and styling that Toyota's global design chief Wahei Hirai calls "free-form geometrics." U.S. Transportation Department opens probe of 2010 Toyota Prius brakes

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday that it is opening a formal investigation of the 2010 Toyota Prius Hybrid to determine whether the vehicle suffers momentary loss of braking capability while traveling over bumpy surfaces. NHTSA, an agency that is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, has received 124 consumer complaints, including four reports of crashes.

The changes to the 2014 Camaro amount to a new nose with wider grill and slimmer lights, a set of vents on the bonnet with a new boot lid, diffuser and lights at the back that somehow contrive to make the Camaro look like a Japanese import. Under the bonnet is the same American Muscle engine – a 6.2 litre V8 – with 426bhp if you opt for the manual gearbox and 400bhp if you go for the auto option, with standard equipment including Keyless, MyLink (which gives you a 7″ touchscreen, rear view camera and voice recognition), SatNav and colour heads-up display.
