Baby Range Rover (2011) to have 2wd, sub 130g/km CO2

By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 10 May 2010 14:55 Land Rover today confirmed that next year's new baby Range Rover – the LRX concept car made real – will be the company's first car to offer front-wheel drive.It's part of the ongoing greening of the Land Rover brand, which risks being left behind by the environmental seachange. Dumping four-wheel drive on entry models will ensure the LRX will emit less than 130g/km of CO2 on the 2.2-litre turbodiesel model.Front wheel drive Land Rovers! Whatever next?'It's quite a departure for the company,' admitted a spokeswoman.

Could the McLaren P13 get a Honda engine?

The McLaren P13 is due to arrive in 2015 and we’re expecting it to get a de-tuned version of the 3.8 litre V8 already found in the 12C (pictured above) and P1, and be priced to take on the almost empty sector (in terms of price) the Porsche 911 Turbo occupies - somewhere around £125k. It’s a sensible plan to fill a potentially lucrative sector of the supercar market with a mid-engined, rear wheel drive ‘baby’ supercar with performance of around 3.8 seconds to 60mph and stunning handling. It should give the 911 Turbo a run for its money.

Winners announced in Chinese Auto Design Awards 2011

Winners in the fourth Chinese Auto Design Awards have finally been announced. Held at the China Agriculture Film and Television Center in Beijing, the glamourous ceremony saw awards given to two groups; students and automotive manufacturers. Amongst the automotive groups, it was GAC Trumpchi that was awarded the ‘Best Design Innovation Award', whilst Buick's picked up the ‘Golden Dot Award' for its ‘Envision' concept car.
