Toyota Prius points the way to design future
Mon, 18 May 2009For a glimpse of Toyota's future design trends, check out the Prius. The third generation, debuting Monday in Japan, stays true to the line's role as a vanguard of futuristic styling and sports many new elements that will be popping up soon in other models. Chief among these are the sharply creased corners, the forward placement of the Toyota badge, a lowered grille and styling that Toyota's global design chief Wahei Hirai calls "free-form geometrics." The goal was to create an avant-garde, high-tech look that also screams green.
Kia four-door sports sedan concept
Fri, 19 Aug 2011Kia isn't giving much away about its Frankfurt-bound concept car, indeed it hasn't even released its name yet, referring to it as the 'four-door sports sedan concept.' The press release talks of it as 'signalling a distinctive new design direction' for the Korean brand, yet the now-familiar 'tiger-nose' grille and Optima-esque A-pillar/cant rail/C-pillar highlight are very much in evidence. "No matter from which perspective you look at it - this concept car is roaring with energy and ready for take-off," says Peter Schreyer, Kia Motors Chief Design Officer."I believe the car is a strong statement from Kia: we are ready to fast forward to an all new chapter." 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander revealed – debut at Geneva
Thu, 09 Feb 2012The new Mitsubishi Outlander debuts at Geneva 2012 The new version of the Mitsubishi Outlander, previewed as the PX-MiEV II Concept, has been revealed ahead of its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Mitsubishi lay claim to their Outlander being the first ’Crossover’ to the market 11 years ago, or at least the Outlander was the first car to be called a crossover. And now we have a new version of the original crossover, with the debut next month at Geneva of the new Mitsubishi Outlander.
