Bristol Cars sold to China. Possibly.

Fri, 01 Apr 2011

Bristol Cars - is it a Chinese Takeaway Earlier this month we reported the sad demise of the quirky and eccentric supercar maker that is Bristol cars, forced in to administration through a shortage of equally eccentric millionaires to buy their creations from another time. The good news is that they still look like a viable entity if they’re properly marketed, so we didn’t expect it to be too long before a buyer popped up and grabbed the Bristol Cars name, its Kensington showrooms and the handful of staff left. So we weren’t surprised to get an email this morning from China telling us the press there are reporting that the Xinjiang No1 Tractor Company – a State-owned maker of tractors (you’d never have guessed) – had snapped up Bristol Cars from the administrators.

First U.S. Audi TT RS delivered in Fort Worth

Thu, 28 Jul 2011

Ex Grand-Am driver Don Istook from Fort Worth, Texas, is the lucky customer who took delivery of the first Audi TT RS model on U.S. shores since the 2008 Audi RS4. Istook was one of the 11,500 fans who signed the petition to bring the TT RS here, so it's only fitting that he gets one of the early copies.

Volkswagen Golf R 400 revealed – and it looks production ready

Sat, 19 Apr 2014

The VW Golf R 400 (pictured) revealed ahead of Beijing A few days ago we had a teaser sketch for the VW Golf R 400, a 395 bhp version of the Golf R, which we assumed would be nothing more than yet another uber-powerful Golf Concept. But with underpinnings largely taken from the production Golf R, and a fully functioning interior, this Golf R 400 looks more production ready than any Golf Concept before. The Golf R 400 still uses the regular Golf R’s 2,0 litre Turbo, but VW has managed to squeeze an extra 99bhp and 52lb/ft of torque to produce supercar-rivalling performance of 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 174mph.
