Online driving licence to reduce insurance costs
Thu, 09 Jan 2014First the tax disc, now your driving licence, as government plans to put driving records online are set to make the paper counterpart licence obsolete – reducing your car insurance premium in the process. By creating an online record that insurance companies can easily check, ministers and the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA) expect insurance costs to fall, as insurers will be able to exactly analyse risk rather than hedging their bets. Supercar companies spring up all over the place with men in sheds thinking they can take on established supercar makers and take a part of the supercar market in the process. Most fail to get beyond CAD renderings of their dream, but a new Supercar company from Mexico – Vuhl – has the help of established automotive industry names like Ford and Magna Steyr, and they’re promising to reveal their new car – the VUHL 05 – at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
Ferrari F1 drops ‘Marlboro’ graphics for Barcelona
Sun, 09 May 2010Ferrari have dropped the ‘Pack of Marlboros’ graphic for the Barcelona GP A couple of weeks ago we reported that Ferrari have been accused of running subliminal tobacco advertising on their F1 cars, an allegation Ferrari strenuously denied. To be honest we can’t know for sure whether there was an intent to subliminally suggest a pack of Marlboros with the barcode graphics on the current Ferrari F1 livery or not. What we can be sure of is that now a jobsworth has made the allegation we all think of a pack of Marlboros every time we see the Ferrari livery.
