Ford Focus BEV at 2009 Frankfurt motor show

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 15 September 2009 10:00 Not one to miss out on a party, Ford gatecrashed the French brands’ electric carfest at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show. The new Focus BEV (battery electric vechicle) is a working prototype and not bound for production – yet, although that is the longer term intention. A demo programme starts with 15 cars hitting UK roads in 2010.

Ford Fiesta – Good. Fiesta advertising – not so good.

The billboard on a US Fiesta Display (click for bigger image) We have to hand it to Ford. They have handled the introduction of the Fiesta to the US market in a very clever, 21st century way. Their Fiesta Movement campaign paid big dividends and delivered a record level of awareness for a relatively unknown little car in the land of the V8 gas guzzler.

One Lap of the Web: Motorcycles in revolt

-- Danny Lyon photographed the Chicago Outlaws at the height of the counterculture: Following the gang on his Triumph, Lyon published his candid, brutal shots in 1968 with the title "The Bikeriders." Vice explains why Lyon's book mattered: He rode with them, documented their personal conversations and ultimately glorified the gang and their "existential struggle to be free." The book is due for re-release by the Aperture Foundation. -- Kim Boyle built this gorgeous custom 1978 BMW R100/7 on a shoestring budget, proving that you can't put a price on talent and taste. The as-yet-unnamed bike wears an old-school BMW roundel and some lovely details, including a headlight screen, a seat from a Ducati Monster and a custom 2-into-1 exhaust welded from 32 pieces of tubing.
