VW at Leipzig Auto Show: CC R Line, Scirocco GTS, Beetle Fender & CrossPolo ‘Urban White’
Fri, 01 Jun 2012Volkswagen is going to the 2012 Leipzig Auto Show with a quartet of new models, but only one is heading for the UK. The Leipzig Auto Show may not rank in the top tier of world car shows, but that’s not stopping Volkswagen from turning up with a whole heap of new models this weekend. The VW CC R Line is exactly what it says on the badge, a butched-up version of VW’s CC with a set of 17″ alloys, a bit of a body kit, a splash of chrome and a R Line multi function steering wheel inside.
Chevrolet Colorado concept
Mon, 28 Mar 2011General Motors' Chevrolet brand is previewing the next generation midsized Colorado pickup truck in concept form at the Bangkok International Auto Show. The venue was chosen to debut the truck due to the Thai market's prevalence – it is the world's largest market for midsize pickups. Despite being a show vehicle, the basic proportions and form are said to convey the vision for the next-generation Colorado, whiuch is said to build on Chevrolet's 'strong truck DNA and award-winning heritage.' With a design calling on the inherent strength of Chevy trucks, it is unsurprising to see the exterior boast a broad shouldered and squat demeanor.
Concept Car of the Week: Alfa Romeo BAT 7
Fri, 31 Aug 2012This week sees the Concept of the Week title go to Alfa Romeo and Bertone for their collaboration on the Alfa Romeo BAT 7, the second addition to the BAT series that began in 1953 and finished in 1955. First seen at the 1954 Turin motor show, this wildly futuristic ‘dream' car came about after Alfa Romeo contacted Giuseppe "Nuccio" Bertone of the Bertone carrozeria to commission three concepts with the lowest possible drag coefficient. The cars were named BAT for "Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica." Built upon the Alfa Romeo 1900 chassis, the BAT cars featured large rear bumpers and curved fins, and the concepts achieved a drag coefficient of just 0.19 - an impressive result.
