CAR tech: building the world's fastest EV
Mon, 07 Oct 2013By Jesse Crosse Motor Industry 07 October 2013 09:00 What if you could toss all the qualms about electric cars out the window and build one that doesn’t care one iota about range nor looking like a conservative marshmallow designed by styling clinics? The Drayson is exactly that: a Lola-chassised EV that’s been built with no intention of beating the London Congestion Charge, but instead with the sole aim of swallowing Tarmac as quickly as possible. Tesla to work with others, Roadster priced at £92k
Tue, 19 Aug 2008By Ben Oliver Motor Industry 19 August 2008 09:21 Tesla has confirmed that it is working with several major car makers to develop affordable, fully-electric city cars, with the first going on sale as early as 2010. The established car makers will use the experience Tesla has gained developing the high-performance, £92,000 Roadster as a short cut to getting their own electric cars on sale. 'Smaller Teslas in the pipeline' Tesla plans to have its Model S five-seat electric hatchback on sale by 2010 in both the United States and Europe.
2016 Ford Focus RS hits the Nurburgring (video)
Tue, 26 Aug 20142016 Ford Focus RS hits the Nurburgring One car Ford has failed to produce in the latest Focus is the Focus RS, but that is set to change with plans for a new range-topping Focus RS hitting Ford’s showrooms in 2016, a year before the current Focus is due for an update. So it’s no surprise to see Ford starting to blat the new Focus RS round the Nurburgring – albeit using a Focus ST as a mule for the RS’s powertrain – ahead of a probable reveal late in 2015. Almost certainly powering the new Focus RS is the 2.3 litre EcoBoost from the new Ford Mustang, which gets 304bhp in the Mustang but which is expected to get as much as 345bhp in the new RS – as much as the old Focus RS500 managed.
