VQ35 Oil Consumption I bought an ’03 Pathfinder in 2008 with the VQ35 engine. It had 87,000 miles on it. To make sure it was prepared for a life with me, I performed all the periodic maintenance. I didn't want to assume that it was treated kindly. The first thing that stunned me was the reports of power valve screws being ingested and causing damage. While reading that material, I came across posts talking about high oil consumption. The truck I bought was low on oil when I inspected it. Now I began to wonder if this might be a problem with my vehicle. Hmmm, high quality import?? Now I understand that lots of folks are having oil consumption problem with the VQ35, regardless of vehicle. Moving away from the traditional ash chassis (yes, as in the wood) of the previous car, the new Plus 8 features a bonded and riveted aluminum chassis, similar to the high-performance Aero variants. Externally, the car retains the retro styling that is to be expected of Morgan, but sits on a wider track with deeper rockers.
