Audi dealers ‘told lies’ about safety ratings
Wed, 14 May 2014Audi A BBC investigation has found that Audi dealers lied about the safety ratings of some of the German brand’s models. The Watchdog programme sent undercover researchers into a number of dealers to ask about EuroNCAP ratings. 90% of staff lied about the Audi A5’s crash rating They found that nine out of 10 said that the Audi A5 had been rated by NCAP, with six out of 10 saying it had been awarded a maximum five stars in the crash tests.
U.S. unveils blueprint to tackle driver distraction
Thu, 07 Jun 2012Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said Thursday the agency isn't looking at new regulations to address distracted driving, but rather is calling on automakers to step up voluntary efforts to combat risks with new technologies and education. LaHood, who's made distracted driving a top automotive safety priority of the Obama administration, said he's met with the CEOs of numerous automakers and feels confident "they're committed to safety." He even praised Subaru of America for a TV ad that highlighted the dangers of driver distraction. The commercial featured a father talking to his teenage daughter about the risks of using a cell phone while on the road.
Porsche Panameras recalled for seatbelt fix
Tue, 27 Apr 2010Porsche is recalling all 11,300 units of the 2010 Panamera to fix a problem with the front seatbelts. According to Porsche, the Panamera's seatbelt mounts could fail in a crash when the front seats are in the full forward position. No injuries have been reported.
