Over 18,000 words and dozens of diagrams. This book is written for anybody who owns and wants to rebuild and tune a single or twin overhead camshaft long stroke Manx or International engine. Much of the information in this book can also be applied to short stroke engines up to 1959 such as the section on building and timing the double knocker cambox. This is the manual that Norton never wrote. Norton’s own Instruction Manual tells you how to pull an engine apart but, unless you happen to have an engine untouched by anyone since it left the Norton works, the chances of it being built from components matched at the factory with correct shimming and backlash throughout is not high. Norton engines are complicated and time consuming to set up correctly. Most engines these days are built from what we can find. This manual is written in simple language for people like me who not had the benefit of engine components matched at the Norton works and have had to build engines from parts collected from a variety of different places. Easy step by step instructions with many tuning notes by Norton legends such as Lacey, Craig, Lancefield and 3rd edition. Look at my feedback for reviews.

Having a baby in our Jaguar S-type

Tue, 08 Jun 2010

Those of us that are fathers or expectant fathers, and also like driving must have occasionally daydreamed about what would happen if their wife suddenly went into labour at home and things progress rather more quickly than the oh-so-reassuring leaflets the NHS give out. Resulting in a truly heroic drive to the hospital, arriving, against all odds, just before the baby is born – to the admiration of all concerned. Including Plod, who naturally failed to keep up with you as you went through traffic lights, right angle bends and narrow country lanes at the speed of light….

One:1 halo car coming from Koenigsegg

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

Christian von Koenigsegg talked to Bloomberg Businessweek over the weekend, telling the publication about his youth, the supercar business and how most Koenigsegg designs start in his head. It's all worth a read. But at the end of the four-page article, the head of the brand hints at a new car, built as a “money-is-no-object venture” for a dealer in China.

VW Golf (2012) - prices for new Mk7 Golf from £16,330

Wed, 03 Oct 2012

Volkswagen today announced prices for the new Mk7 Golf. It'll start from £16,330 on-the-road - and the good news is, that's cheaper than the outgoing Mk6 Golf which today kicks off at £16,425. CAR's been saying for some years that the new MQB architecture underpinning the new VW Golf, and indeed the rest of the VW Group's mid-sized cars from Seats to Skodas, would be cheaper to produce.
