Mercedes has announced the hottest E-class you can buy, the E63 AMG S, will cost from £83,470 in the UK from June 2013. In uprated 'S' guise, the 577bhp/580lb ft exec saloon monster can only be ordered with 4Matic all-wheel drive in left-hand drive markets, but the UK gets only rear-drive cars. Alfa Romeo & Mazda to build new roadster

Mazda & Alfa to jointly develop a new roadster Alfa Romeo and Fiat have signed an agreement to build a new new RWD roadster based on the next generation Mazda MX-5 platform. Sergio Marchionne is a big believer that the only way to survive as a mainstream car maker is to be as big as possible and share development costs whenever you can. Which explains – from the Fiat point of view – why Alfa Romeo has entered in to an agreement to produce a new roadster with Mazda to be based on the next generation Mazda MX-5 RWD platform.

Renault Samsung SM7 concept

Making its debut at the Seoul Motor Show was the Renault Samsung SM7 concept. Despite carrying the concept tagline, the car is a thinly veiled production model of the forthcoming Samsung SM7 in Asia, and possibly the next generation Renault Laguna or Safrane in Europe. The D-segment sedan is based on a stretched platform that underpins the current SM5, and will go head to head with both the Hyundai Grandeur and Kia K7.
