Nissan plots BladeGlider production (2014)

By Ben Pulman Motor Industry 03 January 2014 10:30 Last month we brought you spyshots of Nissan’s new Almera hatchback; this week it’s the altogether more enticing news that bosses at the Japanese car giant hope to put the wacky BladeGlider concept car into production. The ‘swept wing’ BladeGlider is inspired by Nissan’s ZEOD RC, the company’s entry into the 2014 Le Mans 24-hours, and it seems production of the crazy concept is a possibility. ‘It’s in our mid-term plan,’ Nissan chief planning officer Andy Palmer revealed to CAR.

HERTZ TO OFFER ELECTRIC IMIEV HIRE

THE HERTZ Corporation has signed an agreement with Mitsubishi Motors in the UK to add the pure-electric vehicle (EV) i-MiEV city car to the fleets of Hertz and car sharing club Connect by Hertz in the UK. The rollout has already begun with two Mitsubishi i-MiEVs now available for Connect by Hertz members to zip around London. Hertz plans to add further i-MiEVs to its fleets throughout the year across the UK, as well as offering vehicles for corporate and university pool fleets.

Entering the seventh floor of a London car park to find three spaces occupied by BMWs is an inconsequential occurrence given the proliferation of Bavarian-born cars in the UK Capital. Except, that is, when the three in question have been touched by the hands (and brushes) of Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschernberg. As part of the London 2012 Festival and in partnership with the ICA, BMW has taken over a grimy multi-storey in London's hipster Shoreditch district, filling it with 16 works from its iconic, priceless Art Car collection.
