Arizona auctions: Scottsdale sales net an estimated $157 million
Mon, 24 Jan 2011WITH VIDEO -- Five days of sales staged by auto auction companies in the Phoenix area pulled in a combined estimated total of $157 million, according to Hagerty Insurance. The five companies staging auctions--Barrett-Jackson, Gooding & Co., RM Auctions, Russo and Steele and Silver Auctions--offered 2,887 lots for sale and sold 2,325 of them, an 81 percent sell-through rate. A 2006 Ferrari FXX Evoluzione at the Gooding auction was listed as the top single sale with a price of $2.09 million, Hagerty said.
Ford offers $1m of design scholarships in memory of William Clay Ford
Wed, 19 Mar 2014Ford Motor Company has put aside $1million to be awarded in automotive design scholarships over the next 20 years in order to commemorate the life of William Clay Ford who passed away on Sunday. The Ford Fund will release $10,000 each to five college sophomores or juniors per year who are following a career in car design. William Clay Ford was the last surviving grandchild of company founder Henry Ford and design was his lifelong passion.
Government checks Ford sedans for gas pedals trapped by floor mats
Tue, 01 Jun 2010The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is looking into reports of accelerator pedals being trapped by floor mats in the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan sedans. NHTSA says its probe covers about 249,000 cars from the 2010 model year. There have been three complaints about pedals being trapped by all-weather floor mats.
