Honda has delivered on its promise of bringing the 2010 Insight to market priced less than the rival Toyota Prius. The new Honda hybrid will start at just $20,470 in base LX form, including shipping charges, which undercuts the Prius by $2,250. Insight LX models come standard with front-side and side-curtain airbags, ABS, automatic climate control and power windows.

This brought Ford, GM and Chrysler together to collaborate in developing cars that could achieve up to 80mpg, and be ready to market by 2003. If you were signed up for AutoWeek Fantasy Camp, you'd have climbed into the ten best sports coupes under $50,000 for a day of blasting around the Ford Dearborn Development Center. Participants started with a morning briefing covering safety regulations and track guidelines; after that, they cut loose on the track for 9/10ths driving with pros riding shotgun, full vehicle evaluations, plus conversations with Chip Foose and the folks from Meguiars and ZF.
