For sale is a NOS, new in the box, never used Hurst Mystery Shifter 293-3093. This shifter and kit were designed to fit 1955-64 Chevrolet passenger cars using the original Chevrolet three speed manual transmission .  Hurst designates this as the 341 code transmission. This is a complete kit, shifter, linkage, hardware, and boot. This item has been in storage since the early seventies and the box is a little rough, but the parts inside are in perfect condition. This shifter includes detailed instructions for an easier installation, it also has a kit contents list that I had to modify from another application since the original was missing. The Chevy II kit was the same except for two parts so I cloned the sheet to work with this application. The kit is complete as verified by my Hurst Service Parts contents sheet and ready to go. I cleaned all the parts and installed the swivels on the rods.  This was Hurst's first effort to put a quality product on the market to compete with their competitors "fit all" cheapo's. The Hurst brochure describes the Mystery shifter as having a satin finish, solid steel stick. exclusive acceleration ramp design, a very narrow neutral gate, and short,  quick throws. This shifter will fit other vehicles using this transmission, but you will have to do some extra cutting on the floor. This unit is in perfect shape and all there including the boot. A two legged rat stole the shifter knob many years ago, so I purchased a new Hurst shifter knob as an upgrade. The satin metal stick perfect, these pictures do not do it justice. If you have a 55-57 or 58-64 model street machine this will help give it the look of the period, a round stick Hurst shifter. Thanks for looking.

Saab 9-3 Convertible Independence Edition

Sat, 19 Feb 2011

The Saab 9-3 Convertible Independence Edition Last week we ran a story about Saab’s Concept for the Geneva Motor Show, which we expect to be a concept version of the new Saab 9-3, but could be a first look at the smaller Saab 9-2. What we did say in that report was that apart from the Saab Concept we would see the debut of the Saab 9-5 SportCombi and a couple of limited edition Saab 9-3s – one of them a convertible. Well, with a week or so to go to the Geneva Motor Show, the limited edition Saab 9-3 convertible has leaked out through the well-informed Saabs United as the Saab 9-3 Convertible Independence Edition.

Remembering Oldsmobile and its incredible Aurora

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

On April 29, 2004, the last Oldsmobile rolled off the line and took the century-old badge with it. Since its founding in 1897, Oldsmobile has enjoyed a beloved and storied past in the tapestry of American industry. So many luminary products arose from its Lansing, Mich., home!

Intermot-IVM Design Award Competition 2004

Fri, 21 May 2004

A perception that young people are less and less attracted to motorbikes provides the theme for the first Intermot-IVM Design Award competition. The Motorcycle Industry Association of Germany (IVM e.V.) and the Trade Fair Munich/Intermot have decided to intensively take care of their young clients with several activities this year. As young people are no longer inspired by superb technology alone, but are impressed more and more visually, it is only logical to place a greater emphasis on the design of the bike in winning over young customers.
