NOS New Old Stock Clevite MS1066AL .50MM
Another oldie but goodie - on box is Clevite MS-1066 AL - .50MM - MB611AL Made in Germany - All other components Made in Brazil - 2-81. Gould Inc., Engine Parts Division; Cleveland, Ohio 44125.
There is a note in box that says: "Important - Please Read - MB-65P and Undersizes - This No. 2 position bearing with 0.50mm (.0197") oversize O.D. was previously supplied in Aluminum material. Also, MB-65P has the wall size increased 0.025mm (.001") and the oil hole repositioned to the opposite side of the previous positions in the Aluminum bearing. All changes are consistent with Volkswagen specifications." So the note in the box should be considered if it conflicts with what is in the book.
Bearing set consists of 1 each MB-65P, MB-66AL, MB-67AL and MB-611AL (F)
I could not find information for this part number in the Clevite 77 Catalog dated 2003, so included information from my 1988 Michigan 77 catalog which has the following for MS1066AL:- Volkswagen 1192cc (1961-65)
- Volkswagen 1285cc (1966)
- Volkswagen 1493cc (1961-69)
- Volkswagen 1584cc (1966-79
- Air cooled engines
There are several part numbers for main bearing sets for above VWs. For MS1066AL, there is a note: "Bearings are .50mm oversize on o.d. and MB-611AL is 22mm (.8661/.8677") between flanges. Use flanged bearing on No. 1 position (flywheel end)." There is another note by MB-611AL (F), MB-66AL and MB-67AL that says "full round bearing only".
Michigan part number for MS1066AL is 1212EK.

Car 'not at fault' in Paul Walker crash
Thu, 19 Dec 2013INVESTIGATORS have found no evidence that the Porsche carrying actor Paul Walker had mechanical problems before it crashed, killing the Fast & Furious star. The investigation also ruled out debris or other road conditions as causing the car in which Walker, 40, was a passenger to slam into a lamppost and tree and burst into flames. "We're looking at speed and speed alone," a law enforcement source said.
Sin Cars R2 (2014): a new Anglo-German supercar
Wed, 25 Jun 2014By Jonny Edge 25 June 2014 14:34 A powerful new supercar is primed to burst onto the scene, going by name of the Sin Cars R2 - and this is the first snapshot of it. Boasting over 500bhp and weighing just 1100kg, the Sin Cars R2 was born from a collaboration between British parts supplier ProFormance Metals and German-based Sin Cars GmbH. A veil of secrecy currently surrounds the R2, so what we know is limited.
