Auction is for one NOS Stant Gas Tank Cap vented anti-surge. I ran across this while cleaning out my dad's old garage. This cap is GM assembly line correct. It is exactly like the one on my 69 Z28 that I have owned since 1974. The only difference at all that I can see is the way the ears on the cap face. I have included pictures of the new cap beside my old original cap for you to compare **MY ORIGINAL CAP IS THE ONE PICTURED ON THE RIGHT, AND IS NOT PART OF THE AUCTION (FOR COMPARISON ONLY)** I'm guessing that during manufacturing they didn't worry about which way the ears were facing when they crimped the S Rivet. The cap is in very nice condition, see photos, with only a couple of very minor flaws in the plating. The black marks that show in the photo near the D in vented and looks like missing plating is actually a factory stamp that should clean off easily. This stamp make it look like the plating has gauged off, but it has not. This is original plating, not re-plated just as installed from GM. S Rivet and gasket are perfect! and SMC is stamped on the ear, all of the newer caps only have a large S or nothing on the ear. The judges and knowledgeable car people know this should be there. Cap has never been installed. Box is included but shows some wear from all the years. Again my original cap is NOT part of the auction, only the new cap and box are being sold. This cap is correct for cars without vented gas tanks. The ebay fitment chart is ONLY a guide and sometimes wrong, so make sure you need a vented cap.
