Toyota FT-86 Open Concept: The GT86 Convertible arrives early + video

The Toyota GT86 Convertible – in the guise of the FT-86 Open Concept has arrived earlier than Toyota would like ahead of a Geneva debut. Toyota teased the convertible GT86 with a sketch of the FT-86 Open Concept a few weeks ago – with a promise that all would be revealed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show – but it’s arrived a bit earlier than Toyota wanted. The intrepid folks at FT86Club have managed to come up with photos of the FT-86 Open Concept (above) – and video – ahead of the official reveal by Toyota – and it looks pretty good.

Tesla set for record sales result

Innovative electric carmaker Tesla is set to announce that the last quarter of 2013 was the most successful for sales in the company’s history. As a young company with a well-respected product this doesn’t sound too surprising – until you learn that the anticipated results are said to be 20% better than Tesla had predicted. Volvo, Geely working on shared architecture

Geely and its Volvo ward are working at developing a new compact car architecture that will be shared by both companies. For Volvo, this means a smaller luxury car, possibly a few. The platform will be modular, as is practically required in this day and age, ready to underpin different body styles or—if need be—an entirely new lineup.
