The original V8 Audi R8 was hardly on the roads before speculation started that there would be a more powerful, V10 version. While Ford and General Motors executives chose largely to ignore the financial crisis and government bail outs by pretending they hadn’t happened, Chrysler president Jim Press started his presentation by cracking jokes about it. He then outlined how the company – in an aggressive restructuring programme before the credit crisis – was responding.

Porsche Rennsport IV rolls on at Laguna Seca

Heavy fog for the morning qualifying runs didn't seem to dampen the spirits of competitors nor the thousands of fans attending Rennsport IV at Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca. Billed as the largest gathering of Porsche race cars and drivers, the day was filled with on-track action as well as a concours of historically significant Porsches from the past 40-plus years. Three classes of race cars competed on Saturday.
