Design Sevices: MCE Design Workshops
Sun, 17 Jan 2010Independent design studio Motorcity Europe (MCE) is launching another series of two- and five-day design workshops aimed at broadening the skills, experience and job prospects of anyone working - or looking to work - within the field of automotive design. Based on the massive success of the MCE Summer Seminars, these follow up workshops in February 2010 will be an intensely improved version, open to all skill levels of design. Top sponsors including Autodesk, Wacom and RLE Int'l will also be supporting this event.
College Exhibition: IED Fiat/Chrysler project
Fri, 13 Nov 2009Second year students at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Turin, Italy, recently completed a Fiat/Chrysler sponsored project, which began in February 2009. Conceived as a didactic exercise to think about the recent alliance between Fiat and Chrysler, 37 students were asked to design a vehicle capable of combining the technical know-how, platforms and values of both brands in order to generate interesting and competitive new products for the European and the American markets. In creating their concepts, students were asked to take into account the style, economic accessibility and the low environmental impact of Fiat vehicles as well as the new platforms and major industrial and production capacity afforded by the Italian automaker's alliance with the Chrysler brand.

Fri, 27 Sep 2013Tesla Model S EV (pictured) is the best-selling car in Norway We’ve already seen that the Tesla Model S electric car is out-performing many luxury cars in the US, and with reviews of the Tesla S finding very little not to like it seems strong Tesla S sales are a trend that will continue. But it’s one thing taking on low-selling, high-end cars, and quite another becoming the best-selling car bar none in a given market, but that’s exactly what Tesla has achieved in Norway in the first few weeks of September. Admittedly, Norway’s car market isn’t huge, but the Tesla Model S managed to move in to buyers hands in Norway in the first two weeks of September at a quicker rate than even the regular VW Golf, selling 322 compared to the Golf’s 256.
