Nissan recruits Champions League football stars

NISSAN has gone football mad ahead of the new European season, recruiting as brand ambassadors two of the finest talents to grace the 2014-15 Champions League. The Japanese firm is sponsoring the competition this year, and has secured the services of Brazil's captain of Paris Saint-Germain Thiago Silva and the Barcelona and Spain midfielder Andrés Iniesta, who himself has won three Champions League titles. Dubbed Nissan's new 'Engineers of Excitement', the firm says in a press release that the players “will help the Japanese car manufacturer in its campaign to introduce new innovations to enhance the football fan experience.” They will feature in a series of TV adverts focusing on how innovation is key, both on and off the field, to creating excitement for football fans and drivers.

Minicars perform poorly in crash tests, study says

Minicars made by Toyota, Honda and Daimler AG did poorly on frontal crash tests with mid-sized automobiles, prompting an influential safety organization to suggest consumers consider buying larger cars that have comparable fuel economy. The Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit and Smart ForTwo all collapsed upon impact into the space around the driver dummy, according to the study released today by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. BMW to reveal Zagato concept at Pebble Beach

This weekend at Pebble Beach, Monterey and the Legends of the Autobahn, BMW will show off a handful of cars, the most intriguing of which is this Zagato concept. Basically looking like a swoopy version of the Z4, the Zagato concept will hold court next to the 2013 BMW 7-series, the Alpina B7 and more products from the M division, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Three vintage race cars will be out touring during the Motorsports Reunion, including the 1986 BMW-March GTP, the 1980 BMW M1 Procar and a 1975 BMW 3.5 CSL, the last of which will be piloted by BMW North America President and CEO Ludwig Willisch.
