Hyundai move from Baboons to Kids to test quality
Fri, 05 Jul 2013Hyundai let a troop of 4 & 5 year olds loose on an i30 to test quality Last year, Hyundai let a troop of 40 safari park baboons loose on an i30 to see if, left to their own devices, they could trash Hyundai’s very well bolted together (just ask Martin Winterkorn) i30. It was a clever way to demonstrate that the i30 doesn’t just look good, but is made of a bit more than recycled baked bean cans and Fairy liquid bottles. The i30 came through the baboon test with flying colours (even the company tasked with cleaning it up after the baboons commented on the story that they were impressed by how unscathed the i30 was), but Hyundai has now come up with a quality test that makes the baboon adventure look like a walk in the (safari) park.
One Lap of the Web: Wax that woody; Bentley gets high-tech
Thu, 22 May 2014-- Bentley comes striding into the 21st century with a Mulsanne souped up with no fewer than two keyboard-equipped iPads in the backseat, hidden behind veneered wood inlays. In a short film titled "Intelligent Details" -- one must assume Bentley marketers had to resist the urge to call it "Intelligent Design" -- Luc Donckerwolke, director of design, and Sang Yup Lee, head of exterior design, go for a ride in black-and-white Manhattan. Naturally, they are not driving.
Motorist Still At Wheel With Record Points Tally
Tue, 07 Jan 2014THE Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has discovered a motorist has accrued a record 45 penalty points on his driving licence in a nine-month period and is still on the road. Obtaining the figures from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) following a Freedom of Information Act request, the IAM has uncovered the worrying tale of a driver from Liverpool who racked up the points tally for eight offences of either failing to disclose the identity of the driver or for speeding between October 1 2012 and June 20 2013. His total exceeded the previous still-driving record of 42 points.
